i'm going to talk about this here because i don't want to dump on anyone's excitement or discourage anyone from creating, but i reaaalllly don't get the draw between vernon and spiderman that fandom keeps making.

it might just be because he's a popular young hero right now, but like. both spidermans stories are SO rooted in their specific social class in NYC. like way before miles was created, both in and out of universe, there was a good amount of discussion about how spiritually/functionally, spiderman feels like a black character, and how Peter probably would've been black if he had been created in later times.

there's at least three 616 comics I can think of, pre-Miles, where characters speculate that spiderman is probably black. The one that I think about the most is from the POV of a little kid who is black, imagining spiderman taking his mask off and revealing a black man. and i don't want to say that making vernon spiderman is racebending or anything but just emphasize how specifically and intrinsically he is a character set in NYC inner-city, his stories are rooted specifically in those struggles, idk, i didn't watch the movies so maybe that's changed somewhat there.

There are so many other Marvel heroes to pick from that aren't so deeply rooted to their location and social class, I don't get where this desire comes from to insert vernon, specifically, into that lol. The other bits of Peter and Miles, like vernon's not dumb but i wouldn't say he's a genius? he's not a quippy, annoying, smart ass. he's also not like, a really soft boy that I know I've seen around with Tom Holland's version. He's not a social underdog like peter, he isn't broadly disliked like spiderman. It's just such a weird choice.

Like really at this point you're just swapping his powerset on to vernon and his powerset is not that remarkable? like, mild strength and webslinging? Like he's not even esp intuitive how are you going to give him spider-senses klfgdf idk, it's fine. asdfgajdkfg it's funny BECAUSE I think vernon is EXTREMELY morally minded and into righting social injustices, which really matches for some superheros BUT! NOT PETER lololgfdlkasdfjg idk is Tom Holland's peter super into that? Peter is like the ICONIC, text book reluctant hero. His uncle had to die for him to care????? like the first thing he did with his powers is try to get fantastic four to pay him and then he quit when he found out it wasn't a paying gig. lkajsd vernon would not need that.

In my heart I know it's just because fans want to explore a current popular character with their current favorite and that's fine and really just ignore this ranting into the void lol.
